Hello friends

This will be another weekend of changes: Most of Europe will move its clocks forward on March 26. That same day the A23 HF (shortwave) frequency season begins. Many shortwave broadcast stations will change frequencies to adjust for seasonal propagation. As far as I know, there are no changes for the WRMI and WINB frequencies used for Shortwave Radiogram. This weekend the only local time change would be for the Monday 0800-0830 transmission, which is usually difficult to hear in Europe.

If you are able to receive and decode the DRM transmission on Friday (it's a challenge!), please note that its time has changed to 1400-1430 UTC -- at least it did last weekend -- on 15755 kHz from WRMI Florida. If you don't hear it at 1400-1430 UTC, try 1500 UTC, in case WINB decides after all to keep programs on this frequency pegged to UTC, like they did last year.

Here in the Washington DC area, early spring means that the famous cherry trees are in bloom. There are lots of photos of the cherry blossoms available, but surprisingly few that would work well on Shortwave Radiogram. A lack of good lighting is the main culprit. One cherry tree photo is included in this weekend's show.

A video of last weekend's Shortwave Radiogram (program 296) is provided by Scott in Ontario (Friday 1300 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis is prepared by Roger in Germany.

Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 297, 23-27 March 2023, in MFSK modes as noted:

 1:35 MFSK32: Program preview
2:41 MFSK32: Grow rice in Martian soil?
6:07 MFSK64: Small-budget satellite is space junk remedy*
13:16 MFSK64: This week's images*
28:39 MFSK32: Closing announcements
