Here in the Washington DC area, we have been experiencing a few days or weather that is not too hot and not too humid -- very unusual for this time of year. As I type this, I can feel the humidity returning through my open window. The air conditioner will be needed in the next few days.
Many Shortwave Radiogram listeners enjoy decoding slow scan television (SSTV) images -- similar to our MFSK images -- from the International Space Station. SSTV transmissions from the ISS are planned for August 6, 1050 to 1910 UTC, and August 7, 0950-1555 UTC. The frequency is 145.8 MHz, narrow band FM (NFM). I use this map to determine when the ISS will be near my location. When you decode SSTV from the ISS, it's over a distance usually much less than the distance you received and decode Shortwave Radiogram on HF.

New York and Pennsylvania NBEMS nets. Most weekends, as KD9XB, I check in to the New York NBEMS (Narrow Band Emergency Messaging Software) net Saturday at 1200 UTC on 3584 kHz USB, and the Pennsylvania NBEMS net Sunday at 1130 UTC on 3583 kHz USB. Check-ins are usually in Thor 22, and messages are in MFSK32. Messages generally use the Flmsg add-on to Fldigi. If you are a radio amateur in eastern North America, feel free to check in. Outside the region, use an SDR in the eastern USA to tune in and decode. You do not need Flmsg to check in, and most of the messages can be read without Flmsg. If you can decode the net, send me an email to radiogram@verizon.net , or tweet to @SWRadiogram, and I will let them know you are tuned in.
