I have read G8MNY's msg about some history..
I started with this nice hobby when i was 11 years old.
Bought a cb radio from my nextdoor neighbour and we talked to eatchoter
using a simple telescope antenne, of course not dipped did we know
anything about it ? ;)
And it worked..
no one heard is even trucker on cb 19 hihi..
We did hear them..
In the years that folowed we did get a big vertical and a big pole
for the antenne and a litle pa for about 30 watts and we made nice
contacts over sometimes 40km in fm.
My neighbour stopped with the hobby and i went on..
Later when i was in highschool someone said you should try packet.
At first i was sceptisch.. just a big QRM i thought..
Who would ever apreciate the awful packet sound..
whel when i wash over to a friend cb station and sa what packet was all
about i turned over.
i bought a baycom and with some help i wash on air wit tsthost !
at that time i was 14 years old..
Later i got my N license in 2005 and in 2012 i got my F license.
And now stil active with packet on CB and HAM being aged 36 :)
Running two bbs/node systems on cb and 2/70 and a
d-star repeater system on 70/23
For who is interested..
The CB system is on 27.235 Fox Mike where there is a lot of DX
activity when the band is open.
The HAM system is on 144.850 Fox Mike and when i have it back on air
also on 438.4375 -7.6 (9k6)
