SATELLITE INFORMATION BULLETIN
AMSAT-UK / AO-73 (FUNcube-1) Satellite Update
================================================================================
Edition: Satellite Operations & Telemetry Date: October 02, 2026
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPERATIONAL CHANGE ON AO-73 (FUNCUBE-1) SATELLITE
* Operational Mode Switch (World Space Week)
Following nearly 1 year of continuous operation of the U/V transponder, the
AO-73 / FUNcube-1 satellite will be switched to transmitting higher power
telemetry starting at approximately 14:30 UTC on Sunday, October 4th.
* Battery & Electrical Power System Health Assessment
The mode change coincides with World Space Week. With current eclipse periods
experienced by AO-73 being quite short (only 20 minutes per orbit without
sunlight), the AMSAT-UK FUNcube team will assess the state of the battery
and electrical power system without significant risk to the satellite.
* Mission Timeline & Resumption of Transponder Mode
Launched in November 2013, AO-73 is approaching 13 years of successful
operations in orbit. Normal transponder operation will resume on Monday,
October 12th.
